Half and Half of What?

Leave it to Americans to develop a "fat free" version of a product that specifically contains milk fat. Fat Free Half and Half, by Darigold Inc. is one such product. Here are the ingredients:


  • Fat Free Milk  
  • Corn Syrup - flavoring 
  • Sodium Citrate - acidity regulator 
  • Dipotassium Phosphate - used in "non-dairy" creamers to prevent coagulation. 
  • Mono and Diglycerides - emulsifier 
  • Carageenan - thickener 
  • Vitamin A Palmitate - vitamin supplement 


 Is the fat content in a little cream in your coffee worth exchanging for sugar and some chemicals?
